Working together

Reach further by partnering, not duplicating

Rainshield raises funds and public awareness. Our on-ground NGO partner brings years of trusted relationships with Mumbai's homeless community. Together, aid reaches people faster and more safely than either could manage alone.

📌 Partner name to be announced. We're finalising the formal partnership agreement with our chosen NGO and will publish their name, credentials and joint programme details here shortly. Everything below describes how the partnership works in principle.
Why we partner

What each side brings

Rainshield brings

  • Fundraising through community networks, social media and word of mouth
  • Bulk procurement of tarps, waterproof shoes and umbrellas
  • Public transparency reporting to donors
  • Volunteer mobilisation for distribution days

Our NGO partner brings

  • Existing, trusted relationships with pavement and settlement communities
  • Local knowledge of where need is greatest and how to reach it safely
  • Trained outreach staff experienced in respectful, non-intrusive distribution
  • Continuity of care beyond any single donation drive
What we look for

How we choose who to partner with

Because we're a volunteer-run initiative asking people to trust us with their donations, we hold our NGO partnership to a clear standard.

Registered & compliant

A properly registered NGO or trust with a verifiable track record in Mumbai.

Direct ground presence

Active outreach work with homeless and pavement-dwelling communities, not just policy or advocacy work.

Transparent reporting

Willingness to report back on distribution numbers and outcomes we can share with our donors honestly.

Aligned values

A dignity-first approach to aid distribution that matches how we want every drive to feel for the people we're helping.

The broader landscape

Mumbai is home to several respected organisations already working on homelessness and urban poverty year-round — providing shelters, health camps, legal aid on housing rights, and rehabilitation support. Rainshield doesn't aim to replace this ecosystem; we aim to plug a specific, seasonal gap — rapid monsoon relief — and channel resources to the people already doing the sustained, harder work.
